Horsemanship for Homeschoolers
November Module 1 Class:
This class is tailored for 1st through 8th graders. It is designed to be a beginner class that will cover the following:
- Safety=At all times is the utmost priority. Your child will learn safe practices from approaching, haltering, leading, moving, grooming, saddling and riding.
- Language of the horse-This covers not only what the horse tells us through their body language but how to effectively communicate to the horse instilling leadership skills and confidence.
- Movement and Pressure-Combining the two items above we add movement of the horse from the ground initially then carry that information to saddle time
- Care of the horse-Includes grooming, cleaning hooves, feeding, cleaning, signs of illness
- Tacking up-Covers all of the parts of tack and how to get your horse ready to ride
- Saddle time-Your child will learn to correctly sit and move the horse via verbal, leg and seat positions.
This class is a required class regardless of previous lessons or experience.
Classes will meet once weekly for 4 classes total. Cost is $240. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at time of registration to secure your child's spot with the balance due at first class meeting.
Class size is limited to 4.
